Basketweave Baby Afghan

materials:

1 6oz. skein Red Heart Ocean
2 8oz. skein white worsted weight
size "K" hook

notes:

--Afghan is worked lengthwise.
--Stitches 'in' chain-spaces, are to be worked 'around' the chain stitch, not in it

pattern:

with white, chain 103
foundation row: single crochet in 4th chain from hook, (chain 1, skip next chain, single crochet) across; 50 chain-spaces
pattern row: chain 3, turn, single crochet in 1st chain-space*, (chain 1, single crochet in next chain-space) across, placing last single crochet around 3rd beginning chain of previous row

color sequence:

start with 2 rows of white
sequence is - 1 row ocean, 5 rows white
repeat 11 times
finish by adding - 1 row ocean, 2 rows white
finish off weave in ends

border:

join white with single crochet at any point on afghan
Rnd 1: single crochet around, placing (single crochet, chain 1, single crochet) in each corner, join with slip stitch to 1st single crochet
Rnd 2: chain 1, single crochet in same stitch, (chain 1, skip next single crochet, single crochet in next stitch) around, placing (single crochet, chain 1, single crochet) in each corner chain-space, chain 1, join with slip stitch to 1st single crochet
Rnd 3: with ocean, repeat Rnd. 2
Rnd 4-5: with white, repeat Rnd. 2
finish off
weave in ends
