materials:

any color yarn
size H or I hook

notes:

front post double crochet - yarn over and insert hook around next stitch from front, draw up a loop and complete as a regular double crochet

back post double crochet - yarn over and insert hook around next stitch from back, draw up a loop and complete as a regular double crochet

pattern:

chain 7, join with slip stitch to form ring
Rnd 1: slip stitch in ring, chain 3, 2 double crochet in ring, chain 1, (3 double crochet in ring, chain 1) 3 times, join with slip stitch
Rnd 2: slip stitch around beginning chain 3 of previous Rnd, chain 3, back post double crochet, front post double crochet, (3 double crochet, chain 1, 3 double crochet) in chain-space, * front post double crochet, back post double crochet, front post double crochet, (3 double crochet, chain 1, 3 double crochet) in chain-space, repeating from * around, join with slip stitch
Rnd 3: slip stitch around beginning chain 3 of previous Rnd, chain 3, back post double crochet in back post double crochet, front post double crochet in front post double crochet, * continue alternating back post double crochet and front post double crochet to corner - still working back post double crochet in back post double crochet and front post double crochet in front post double crochet, (2 double crochet, chain 1, 2 double crochet) in chain-space, repeat from * around, join with slip stitch to 3rd beginning chain
Continue in pattern, repeating Rnd 3 until desired size
Finish off
Weave in ends.
