Granny Square Drawstring Bag

materials:

size "H" hook
3.5 oz skein Soft Black or any other color

notes:

drawstrings will line up on one side of bag and be opposite each other on the other side (this will make more sense when you get there)

pattern:

you will need 14 3-round granny squares

layout:

with right sides in, join squares with single crochet

to form bag:

with right sides in, (bag will be inside out) single crochet together the sides labeled with matching numbers (squares can also be sewn together)

turn bag right side out

border:

join with single crochet to top of bag
Rnd 1: single crochet around in back loops only, join with slip stitch to first single crochet
Rnd 2: chain 1, single crochet in same stitch as joining slip stitch, single crochet around, slip stitch in 1st single crochet
Rnd 3: chain 4 (beginning chain 3, plus chain 1), skip next single crochet, (1 double crochet, chain 1) in next single crochet and in each single crochet around, join with slip stitch to 3rd beginning chain; drawstring will be woven through this row
Rnd 4: chain 1, single crochet in same stitch, single crochet in each stitch (including chain stitches) around, join with slip stitch to 1st single crochet
Rnd 5: chain 3, double crochet in same stitch, 2 double crochet in each single crochet around, join with slip stitch to 3rd beginning chain
finish off
weave in loose ends
flatten bag

drawstring: (make 2)

chain 120
starting on left side of bag, weave chain through double crochet mesh created in border Rnd. 3 (in one space, out the next), slip stitch in first chain, and in each chain around. after slip stitch in last chain, slip stitch in 1st chain again
tie loose ends together
weave in ends
repeat for second drawstring, weaving this one in from opposite side of bag
