materials:

size 30 thread
size 1 hook

notes:

initial chain 7 may need to be adjusted in order to accommodate all the double crochets in Rnd. 1
beginning chain 3 counts as double crochet throughout

pattern:

chain 7 loosely, join with slip stitch to form ring
Rnd 1: slip stitch in ring, chain 3, 38 double crochet in ring, join with slip stitch to 3rd beginning chain
Rnd 2: slip stitch between first 2 double crochet, chain 4, (double crochet, chain 1) between all double crochet around, join with slip stitch to 3rd beginning chain
Rnd 3-4: slip stitch in 1st chain-space, chain 4, (double crochet, chain 1) in each chain-space around, join with slip stitch to 3rd beginning chain
Rnd 5: slip stitch in 1st chain-space, chain 4, (double crochet, chain 1) 3 more times in same chain-space, (double crochet, chain 1) 4x in each chain-space around, join with slip stitch to 3rd beginning chain

Piece may be finished off at this point to make a coaster.

For doily,
Repeat Rnds. 3&4 until piece lays flat again, the repeat Rnd. 5
Repeat until piece reaches desired size.

Finish off. Weave in ends.

Block as necessary to keep shape.
