materials:

worsted weight yarn in spring green, dark green, and white
yarn needle
fiber-fil
size "I" hook

pattern:
stem:
with spring green,
holding 2 strands of yarn together,
chain 2
Rnd 1: 6 single crochet in 2nd chain from hook, join with slip stitch to 1st single crochet
Rnd 2-6: chain 1, single crochet in same stitch, single crochet around, join with slip stitch to 1st single crochet
finish off and set aside

with spring green,
holding 2 strands of yarn together,
chain 2
Rnd 1: 6 single crochet in 2nd chain from hook, join with slip stitch to 1st single crochet
Rnd 2-6: chain 1, single crochet in same stitch, single crochet around, join with slip stitch to 1st single crochet
Rnd 7: chain 1, single crochet in same stitch and around this piece, single crochet around 1st piece, join with slip stitch to 1st single crochet of this row
Rnd 8-14: chain 1, single crochet in same stitch and around, join with slip stitch to 1st single crochet
Rnd 15: repeat Rnd 8, changing ONE strand of green to white on last yarn over
Rnd 16, 17: repeat Rnd 8
Rnd 18: repeat Rnd 8, changing 2nd strand of green to white on last yarn over (both strands should be white now)
Rnd 19-21: repeat Rnd 8
Rnd 22: chain 1, single crochet in same stitch, decrease (single crochet, decrease) around, join with slip stitch to 1st single crochet
stuff stem lightly
Rnd 23: chain 1, decrease starting in same stitch, decrease around, join with slip stitch to 1st decrease
finish off, sew closed

leaves (make 2):
with only one strand of dark green,
leaving a long tail for sewing,
chain 6, join with slip stitch to form ring
Row 1: slip stitch in ring, chain 3, 11 double crochet in ring
Row 2: chain 4, turn, (double crochet, chain 1) between every double crochet across, double crochet in 3rd beginning chain
Row 3: turn, slip stitch in 1st chain-space, chain 1, single crochet in same space, (chain 3, single crochet) in each chain-space across
repeat Row 3 until last row worked has only one loop
finish off

using photo for placement,
sew leaves on
embroider face with dark green
weave in all remaining ends
