Ring-Centered Granny Square

materials:

any size hook
any color yarn

notes:

This square may be worked past the pattern to a larger size in the same manner as a regular granny square.

pattern:

ch 8, sl st in 1st ch to form ring
Rnd 1: sl st in ring, ch 1, 20 sc in ring, join with sl st to 1st sc
Rnd 2: ch 1, sc in same st, hdc, dc, ch 3, dc, hdc, * sc, hdc, dc, ch 3, dc, hdc, repeat from * 2 more times, join to 1st sc with sl st; 20 sts, 4 ch-sps
Rnd 3: sl st in next 2 sts and in ch-sp, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in same ch-sp, * (working in both loops, 3 dc in next sc), (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in next ch-sp, rep from * 2 more times, (working in both loops, 3 dc in next sc), join to 3rd ch with sl st
Rnd 4: work same as a regular granny square
finish off
weave in ends
