Chain Stitch Kerchief  2 patterns

Kerchief #1 will give a kerchief which is slightly larger than that of pattern #2, however, it has shorter tie strings. Kerchief #2 works up slightly quicker.

materials:

small amount of yarn
size "G" hook

pony beads (optional)

special instructions:

sl st in loop = slip stitch around chain that forms loop, rather than in a specific st
NOTE==>each row should decrease by one loop, meaning that where pattern refers to "until you cannot continue" you have just finished a row with only one loop.

optional beads should be threaded onto yarn before starting any work and pulled up just before the last yo of the stitch wherever desired.  I usually put them along the center segment of the starting chain or in the sl st between all loops

Kerchief #1:

foundation: chain 31, starting in 2nd chain, sl st across, chain 126, starting in 2nd chain, 30 sl st
Row 1: (chain 10, sk 4 chain, sl st in next chain) across, last group before start chain (join with sl st through foundation chain as well as through very first starting chain); 19 loops
Row 2: chain 1, turn, sl st in 2nd - 5th chain of first loop, sl st in loop, (chain 10, sl st in next loop) across.
repeat row 2 until you can no longer continue; 19 rows total
finish: chain 1, turn sl st in 2nd chain of last loop, finish off
weave in ends

Kerchief #2:

foundation: chain 41, starting in 2nd chain, sl st across, chain 116, starting in 2nd chain, 40 sl st
Row 1: (chain 10, sk 4 chain, sl st in next chain) across, last group before start of chain (join with sl st through foundation chain as well as through very first starting chain); 15 loops
Row 2: chain 1, turn, sl st in 2nd - 5th chain of first loop, sl st in loop, (chain 10, sl st in next loop) across.
repeat row 2 until you can no longer continue; 15 rows total
finish: chain 1, turn sl st in 2nd chain of last loop, finish off
weave in ends
