Shell Scarf

materials:

size "J" hook
3 1/2 oz any solid color yarn

special instructions:

to work shell: (3 double crochet, chain 1, 3 double crochet) in indicated stitch or space

pattern:

chain 37
Row 1 (foundation row): work shell in 4th chain from hook, skip 2 chain, single crochet in next chain, (skip 2 chain, work shell in next chain, skip 2 chain, single crochet in next chain) 5 times; 6 shells
Row 2 (pattern row): chain 3, (work shell in chain-space of previous row, skip to single crochet, double crochet in single crochet) 5 times, work shell in chain-space of remaining shell, double crochet in 3rd chain of previous row
Row 3 - ??: repeat Row 2 until desired length (I like my scarves as tall as I am)
finishing row: chain 3, single crochet in chain-space, chain 3, single crochet in double crochet) 5 times, chain 3, single crochet in chain-space, chain 3, single crochet in 3rd chain of previous row
finish off with slip stitch
weave in ends
