Front and Back Square

materials:

any color yarn
size H or I hook

notes:

FPdc - front post double crochet - yo and insert hook around next stitch from front, draw up a loop and complete as a regular double crochet

BPdc - back post double crochet - yo and insert hook around next stitch from back, draw up a loop and complete as a regular double crochet

pattern:

ch 7, join w/ sl st to form ring
Rnd 1: sl st in ring, ch 3, 2 dc in ring, ch 1, (3 dc in ring, ch 1) 3x, join w/ sl st
Rnd 2: sl st around beg ch 3 of prev Rnd, ch 3, BPdc, FPdc, (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in ch-sp, * FPdc, BPdc, FPdc, (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in ch-sp, rep from * around, join w/ sl st
Rnd 3: sl st around beg ch 3 of prev Rnd, ch 3, BPdc in BPdc, FPdc in FPdc, * continue alternating BPdc and FPdc to corner - still working BPdc in BPdc and FPdc in FPdc, (2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in ch-sp, rep from * around, join w/ sl st to 3rd beg ch
Continue in pattern, repeating Rnd 3 until desired size
Finish off
Weave in ends.
