Hamster Hammock
Materials:
1 ball Lily Sugar’n Cream cotton worsted weight yarn (MC)
Optional – small amount of Sugar’n Cream in a contrasting color
Size “J” hook
Pattern:
With MC,
Chain 2, (half double crochet, single crochet, half double crochet) in 2nd chain from hook, chain 1, turn
Rows 2 -14: (half double crochet, single crochet) in 1st stitch, continue across working 1 half double crochet in each single crochet and 1 single crochet in each half double crochet, in last stitch work (single crochet, half double crochet), chain 1, turn.
Finish off.
Either with same color, or with contrasting color,
Join with single crochet to any stitch, work single crochet across to corner. In corner, work (single crochet, * chain 15, starting in second chain from hook – slip stitch in each chain, single crochet, repeat from *). Continue working single crochet along next side and repeat corner, working around hammock, joining with slip stitch to 1st single crochet.
This border will create 1 pair of ties in ea corner so that hammock may be hung from cage.
This pattern may be adjusted for larger or smaller animals (mice, rats, ferrets) simply by increasing of decreasing the number of repeats of pattern Row 2.
