Hamster Hammock

(click for plain English)

Materials:

1 ball Lily Sugar’n Cream cotton worsted weight yarn (MC)

Optional – small amount of Sugar’n Cream in a contrasting color

Size “J” hook

Pattern:

With MC,

Ch 2, (hdc, sc, hdc) in 2nd ch from hook, ch 1, turn

Rows 2 -14: (hdc, sc) in 1st st, continue across working 1 hdc in ea sc and 1 sc in ea hdc, in last st work (sc, hdc), ch 1, turn.

Finish off.

Either with same color, or with contrasting color,

Join w/ sc to any stitch, work sc across to corner.  In corner, work (sc, * ch 15, starting in second ch from hook – sl st in ea ch, sc, repeat from *).  Continue working sc along next side and repeat corner, working around hammock, joining w/ sl st to 1st sc.

This border will create 1 pair of ties in ea corner so that hammock may be hung from cage.

This pattern may be adjusted for larger or smaller animals (mice, rats, ferrets) simply by increasing of decreasing the number of repeats of pattern Row 2.
