Miniature Teddy Bear

materials:

small ball of sport weight yarn
size "G" hook
small amount of black yarn
yarn or tapestry needle
fiber fil

notes:

do not join rounds unless indicated
dec: draw up a loop in ea of next 2 sts, yo, draw through all 3 loops on hook: counts as 1 sc throughout
db dec: draw up a loop in ea of next 2 sts, yo, draw through all 4 loops on hook: counts as 1 sc throughout

pattern:

legs and arms (make 4 altogether):

ch 2
Rnd 1: 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook
Rnd 2: 2 sc in ea sc around; 10 sc
Rnd 3-6: sc in ea st around
Rnd 7: (dec 1, 3 sc) 2x; 8 sts
Rnd 8: sc in ea st around, sl st in next sc
finish off, do not weave in end
stuff lightly with fiber fil

body

Rnd 1: working through both legs - join w/ sc in any st, working through both thicknesses again - 1 st in next st, working on 1 leg - sc in next 6 sc, working on next leg - sc in next 6 sc; 12 sts make round (not counting 1st 2)
Rnd 2: 2 sc, 2 sc in next st, (1 sc, 2 sc in next st) 3x, 2 sc, 2 sc in next st; 17 sc
Rnd 3: ch 3, sc in 3rd ch from hook (tail made), 1 sc in ea st around on body
Rnd 4: 2 sc, 2 sc in next st, (3 sc, 2 sc in next st) 3x, 2 sc; 21 sc
Rnd 5-6: sc in ea sc around
Rnd 7: 3 sc, dec 1, 2 sc, dec 1, 3 sc, dec 1, 2 sc, dec 1, 3 sc; 17 sts
Rnd 8: (2 sc, dec 1) 2x, 3 sc, dec 1, 2 sc, dec 1; 13 sts
Rnd 9: 2 sc, working through any sts on arm and next sts on body - 3 sc, 3 sc (working on body only), working with last arm and body - 3 sc, 2 sc (working on body only)
Rnd 10: 2 sc, * 1 sc in 1 un-used st on arm, sk 1 sc on body, sc in next sc on body, sk 1 sc on body, sc in last un-used st on arm, * 3 sc on body (in sts of prev. Rnd that were between the arms), rep bet *'s, 2 sc on body only
Rnd 11: 2 sc, dec on arm, dec using last st on arm and next st on body, 1 st, dec using next st on body and 1st un-used st on arm, dec on arm, sc in last 2 sts on prev. Rnd.; 9 sts
lightly stuff body, do not finish off - body continues directly into head pattern

head:

Rnd 1: 2 sc on ea st around; 18 sts
Rnd 2: 6 sc, dec 1, 2 sc in next st, dec 1, 7 sc; 17 sts
Rnd 3: 6 sc, 2 sc in next st, 1 sc, 2 sc in next st, 8 sc; 19 sts
Rnd 4: dec 1, 4 sc, dec 1, 1 sc, dec 1, 4 sc, dec 1, 2 sc; 15 sts
Rnd 5: dec 1, 3 sc, 1 db dec, 3 sc, dec 1, 2 sc; 11 sts

Rnd 7: sc in ea st around (skipping ear picots), sl st in next sc
finish off, leaving long tail
stuff head lightly
use yarn tail to sew head closed
using black yarn and needle, embroider face - French knots for eyes and nose, straight sts for mouth
