Suncatcher Doily

materials:
size 10 crochet cotton
200 glass 'E' beads
size 5 hook
notes:
--finished size - just under 5 inches diameter
--I usually thread on a few extra beads, just in case I miscount or one of the
beads break (glass beads may break if dropped, though not often)
special stitches:
beginning cluster - chain 3 (yarn over, insert hook into next stitch, draw up a loop,
yarn over,
draw through 2 loops) 3x, yarn over, draw through all 4 loops on hook
cluster - (yarn over, insert hook into next stitch, draw up a loop, yarn
over, draw through
2 loops) 4x, yarn over, draw through all 5 loops on hook
bead stitch - insert hook into next stitch, draw up 5 beads, yarn over, draw through
all loops on hook
decrease - draw up a loop in each of next 2 stitches, yarn over, draw through all 3
loops on hook
pattern:
chain 7, join with slip stitch to form ring
Rnd 1: chain 3, 19 double crochet in ring, join with slip stitch to 3rd
beginning chain
Rnd 2: chain 3, double crochet in same stitch, (chain 2, 2 double crochet in next
stitch) around, chain 2, join with slip stitch to 3rd beginning chain; 10 spaces
Rnd 3: slip stitch in next double crochet and in chain-space, chain 3, 3
double crochet in same chain-space, (chain 2, 4
double crochet in next chain-space) around, chain 2, join with slip stitch to
3rd beginning chain
Rnd 4: chain 3, double crochet in each of next 3 double crochet, (chain 3,
double crochet in each of next 4 double crochet)
around, chain 3, join with slip stitch to 3rd beginning chain
Rnd 5: work beginning cluster, (chain 12, work cluster) around, chain 12, join with
slip stitch to top of beginning cluster
Rnd 6: 15 single crochet in each chain-space around, join with. slip stitch to 1st
single crochet; 150 single crochet
Rnd 7: *(2 single crochet, bead stitch) 4x, single crochet, decrease,
repeat from * around, join with slip stitch to 1st single crochet
finish off
weave in ends
Block as necessary to keep shape.
